This is a beautiful Pecopteris from the Coal City, Illinois area measuring over 3" in length! It is finely detailed and has a very unique bend in it's design. This fossil was found in the Pit 1 location of the Peabody Coal Company Strip Mines of the famous Mazon Creek. These fossils are from the Pennsylavania Eon and the location of strata is the Francis Creek Shale above the Cholchester #2 Coal referred to as the Cholchester Coal Swamp or Delta.

Both the positive and negative halves rise and sink from the matirx. This is a very 3 dimentional piece. It has a small repair professionally corrected and unnoticeable. It is complete with both halves. There has been no shellacing to enhance this fossil as seen in some of the other plant fossils being sold on eBay. This Pecopteris is seen in it's original state!

A perfect specimen!Email me with any questions. International bidders email for shipping rates. Thanks for bidding, and please look at my other fossils!
