Hand Made Picture Art Display of State of Michigan Map made with hand cut Michigan petoskeys from Lake Michigan. It took approximatly 3 five gallon buckets of extra large petoskey stones and appx. 50 hrs. of labor to create this item.

I started by drawing a map of Michigan including all of the 83 county boundary lines. Then I cut the Petoskey stones and shaped each piece to match the counties. ALL 83 COUNTIES are represented in correct location, shape and size.

Each thick slice of stone was hand polished and glued to cement backer board. I then mounted the entire display to 1/2" sheet of ply-wood and built a frame cut from aged re-claimed barn wood planks.

After staining the frame I grouted the face of the display and applied polyurethane throughout. All of the stones have brilliant shine and the barn wood shows beautiful weathered grain.

This is a very heavy and sturdy item. It was built to last for many generations.

Perfect for display over the fireplace in your home or beach house. Also would be perfect for commercial setting (restaurant, office building, etc.)

Beautiful Petoskey Stone matrix in every cut. Many other fossils throughout.
