One item for bid. This Goniatite fossil is solid rock and highly polished on both sides. From the ammonite family, goniatites lived during the Carboniferous Period about 300 million years ago. From Morocco, these creatures are now extinct. Only a single living relative of the Goniatite survives today, the pearly nautilus of the south Pacific. Goniatites had heads with well developed eyes. They also had grasping tenacles to grab their food and swam by squirting water out of the body cavity as a means of propulsion. This ammonite fossil is a fine specimen for your fossil collection.
